Rotation 8 in Paredes de Coura & Team 2 in Penela: From seas of flames to a sudden change in the weather

Our teams’ arrival on Saturday got off to a fiery start, but the weather soon gave it a completely different character. Even before the heavy rainfall set in on Saturday night, Team 8 in Paredes de Coura was called out immediately upon arrival to tackle a major forest fire in Valença. Just a few hours later, a second significant wildfire broke out in Paredes de Coura itself. A real baptism of fire for the new team.

On Saturday night, however, the weather took a complete turn: it began to rain heavily and remained wet for days on end. As a result, the risk of wildfires dropped to zero. For the rest of the week, the team in Coura therefore focused on medical interventions and various logistical tasks.

For Team 2 in Penela, the week was much quieter from an operational perspective. Due to the persistent rain, there were no fire calls, but the team certainly did not sit idle. They were effectively deployed to a road traffic accident, to clear the road of a fallen tree, to carry out various medical interventions and to perform a range of support tasks at the fire station.
