From 10 to 13 October 2025, we were invited to Penela, where we received a warm and generous welcome from our Portuguese colleagues. For three days, we were guided by experts with decades of experience in forest fire operations and the challenges they entail.
During our stay, both parties discussed their needs, expectations and future objectives, thereby laying a solid foundation for further cooperation. The spacious fire station in Penela offers excellent facilities, making it an ideal location for hosting members of our organisation.
From the summer of 2026, ERA-BE volunteers will be able to take part in operational training programmes with the Penela fire brigade, with a specific focus on combating forest and wildfires.
