The people behind the mission

Volunteers who combine expertise, solidarity and commitment where the need is greatest.

Michael De Nijs

Chairman

Emergency response has been a constant thread throughout Michael’s life, with experience in firefighting and medical assistance, both nationally and abroad. With ERA-BE, he wants to build a professional organization where cooperation, knowledge sharing and people-oriented assistance are central.

Yves De Vogelaere

Secretary

Yves is a professional non-commissioned officer in Brussels and a volunteer at the Sint-Lievens-Houtem fire station. He spends much of his free time in the firefighting world. Together with the other board members, and in cooperation with the Portuguese partners, he is helping to build a strong and sustainable story.

Inge Van Mulders

Administrative Coordinator

Inge mainly supports ERA-BE behind the scenes. With her affinity for the fire service and emergency services, she contributes to the organisation, administration and practical operations of the non-profit organisation. Her focus is on a smooth structure and accurate follow-up, as the foundation for ERA-BE’s strong and sustainable operations.

Luis Santos

Liaison Portugal

Luis has more than 20 years of experience in wildfire fighting, mainly as a member of a helicopter crew. Over the years, he has built up extensive field experience in a wide range of conditions, including prescribed burns and controlled burning.

Dylan Verbaenen

Administrative support

Dylan has been a firefighter and paramedic for many years. With his interest in the emergency services sector, he wants to help build a strong and sustainable story for our ERA-BE vzw, in cooperation with the Portuguese partners.

Thijs Degryse

Administrative support

Thijs, an active firefighter, has always wanted to help people across borders. He has already gained experience in wildfires and wants to help both the organization and the people behind ERA-BE continue to grow.

Isolde Ureel

Copywriter newsletters

Isolde is professionally active in HR & prevention, and also volunteers as a firefighter and ambulance worker in the MidWest zone. With a passion for Portugal, she has come into contact several times with the challenges posed by wildfires, making membership of a well-supported and well-founded non-profit organisation such as ERA-BE a natural step.
