It has been an exceptionally busy and eventful week for our third team in Paredes de Coura. While ERA-BE's efforts usually focus heavily on wildfire fighting, last week proved to be a grueling effort on literally all fronts. With no less than 21 operational deployments, Team 3 showed how flexible our volunteers are.
Paredes de Coura itself was spared from wildfires during Team 3's week, but our people did provide assistance alongside our Portuguese colleagues during 7 forest fires in the surrounding municipalities. In addition, Team 3 responded to a severe house fire, where they, together with the local team, rescued a dog alive from the burning house.
Firefighters, however, don't just put out fires. Team 3 also provided support in 2 logistical operations with the tanker and responded to a call to clean the public road. Finally, the team also engaged in 10 medical interventions.
Meanwhile, team 4 took over the Belgian duty in Paredes de Coura. We want to thank team 3 once again for their professionalism, perseverance, and tireless effort during this busy week.
